September 14, 2023, at 4:00 PM CEST

This webinar will provide a brief overview of the following points:
  • The origin of the idea to reproduce the crown and the iconographic sources used.
  • The use of Rhinoceros software to develop the volumetry of the crown.
  • The importance of faithfully recreating all decorative elements and ensuring their accuracy.
  • The placement of over 200 stones and the design of bezels and interlocking mechanisms.
  • The crown segmentation into 72 pieces to optimize space, facilitated by a reference pattern.
  • The creation of lightweight elements to minimize the overall weight.
  • An overview of the materials used and the different phases of the components' printing, casting, and testing.
Cadia Romano, a passionate jewellery enthusiast, began her studies in Florence at the Lao school at 16. She specialized in Goldsmithing at Il Tarì and Il Perseo in Italy, as well as El taller de Joyeria in Barcelona and Central Saint Martin in London. Graduating from the University of Florence in 2010 in the Culture of Fashion and Style Goldsmithing section, Cadia expanded her skills in sacred (thanks to Paolo Penko) and sexual (thanks to the start-up The Precious Lust) goldsmithing, enameling, engraving, lost wax, and more.

Joining the esteemed Bvlgari High Jewellery workshop, Cadia spent seven years crafting exquisite pieces while refining her 3D design and printing expertise. Today, she works as a freelance designer. She shares her knowledge as a lecturer at the Accademia Italiana University in Rome.

Rhino User Webinar: Harnessing the Power of Generative Design to Shape Better Cities

Rhino User Webinar

In this webinar, we’ll meet Parametric Solutions, a Swedish proptech startup working to improve the built environment by using generative design and artificial intelligence. With Rhino's geometry engine and Grasshopper scripting language at its core, they have created a web-based platform that lets architects and property developers create and explore different design possibilities directly in the browser.

This webinar will focus on showing and discussing the possibilities of Rhino Compute in developing cloud-based geometry applications for the AEC industry. Parametric Solutions will share some of their experiences of working with Rhino in the cloud and demonstrate their platform, and some advantages of working with generative design and AI in early-stage property development. They will also explain their self-developed concept of design objectives—a semantic representation of important criteria influencing design choices.

About the speakers:

  • Sofia Malmsten is the CEO and cofounder of Parametic Solutions. With one foot in architecture and the other in programming, she wants to use her skills to create new tools and technology to form better urban environments. This drive led her to found Parametric Solutions with a clear vision of helping the AEC industry to raise quality and efficiency with the help of AI and generative design.

  • Alexander Radne is a computer scientist and software developer passionate about city planning and the built environment. With a master's degree in theoretical physics and complexity theory, he has a strong foundation in complex problem-solving and algorithm development. Alexander has many years of experience working with various AEC-related software development projects and is an advanced Grasshopper user. Alexander is currently working on improving the generative algorithms in the platform with the use of design objectives.

Free Webinar: Simulate Microclimate with Rhino and SimScale Using the Nuada.CFD App

Free Webinar
Simulate Microclimate with Rhino and SimScale using the Nuada.CFD
September 14, 2023, at 5:00 PM CET/ 11:00 AM ET

The Nuada.CFD app in Rhino is a microclimate modeling tool developed by Thornton Tomasetti and SimScale. Nuada.CFD is designed to allow architects and engineers to perform fast and powerful microclimate design simulations entirely within Rhino and runs on an HPC cloud environment without needing any hardware.

The app uses the powerful CAD tools in Rhino® and integrates SimScale’s fast and accurate Lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) solver Pacefish® for transient wind studies. Architects and engineers now have an easy-to-use and robust design tool for:

  • Pedestrian wind comfort studies for early-stage design insights
  • Simple building aerodynamics and wind studies on the ground, rooftop, terrace, and balconies
  • Analysis of wind mitigation measures, including trees and vegetation
