VisualARQ Grasshopper styles tutorials

VisualARQ Grasshopper styles are those VisualARQ objects created from Grasshopper definitions. This feature lets you create your custom BIM objects with no limits of parametric features.

Learn how to create your custom VisualARQ Grasshopper styles through these tutorial series.

Once you create the new object style, you can work with it in Rhino, have unlimited copies of it with different parameters, and edit it as any other VisualARQ object. At this point, no Grasshopper knowledge is required, although Grasshopper is running in the background.

If you are familiar with Grasshopper, you will find it very easy to convert your Grasshopper definitions into VisualARQ objects.

If you are not, there are sample Grasshopper definitions available to easily follow these step-by-step tutorials.

Saturday, October 26, 2019

Share your Grasshopper definitions. Or benefit from others.

CORE studio | Thornton Tomasetti announced Swarm, an app store for the design community.

In the AEC industry, a minority of Rhino users produce most of the Grasshopper definitions. CORE studio calls these the Superusers and asserts they typically find it difficult to share the tools they build with their colleagues.

So CORE studio is developing Swarm to connect designers who need tools to the Superusers who build them.

Apps are available in the Swarm Marketplace, where designers from various professional fields can both discover and publish solutions for their specific needs. Each Swarm App presents a user-friendly UI that hides the daunting complexities of the script’s inner workings behind a simple set of interactive widgets.

Topologic for Grasshopper

Topologic is a software modeling library enabling hierarchical and topological representations of architectural spaces, buildings, and artifacts through non-manifold topology (NMT).

Topologic is designed as a core library with additional plugins to visual data flow programming (VDFP) applications and parametric modeling platforms commonly used in architectural design practice. These applications provide workspaces with visual programming nodes and connections for architects to interact with Topologic and perform architectural design and analysis tasks.

Topologic is well-suited to create a lightweight representation of a building as an external envelope and the subdivision of the enclosed space into separate spaces and zones using zero-thickness internal surfaces.

Robotic Inform V1.0 workshop in Barcelona by DesignMorphine

Robotic Inform V1.0
Barcelona
January 24-26

The recent adaptation of industrial robots to architectural production has given rise to a new language of design numerically informed through computation. In a world where nearly everything built around us can be 3D printed, using digital and robotic fabrication equipment can investigate possibilities for expanding the geometric vocabulary, functional integration, and smart assembly logic. All in a way that develops new design methodologies that profit from those new technologies.

During this workshop, participants will focus on designing and producing a 1:1 scale prototype of a 3D printed chair through generative growth algorithms. They will be introduced to computer simulation to generate these designs with fabrication rules and constraints, ensuring that their designs can be ready for manufacturing and produced by several geometrical iterations through the same logic.

Nemo for Ship Design has a new release

A new release of Nemo, a Grasshopper plugin for ship design, is shipping!

Nemo is divided into two major parts :
  • Nemo Analysis, for automatic analysis of ship geometry (licensed)
  • Nemo Designer, which includes several design tools (free)
Nemo Analysis can perform hydrostatics computation, silhouette extraction, meshing generation, and resistance prediction right inside Rhino. Sectioning hull into stations - buttocks - waterlines, generating an offset table, or creating cross-sections curves are also embedded features.

Interoperability is allowed with external software like NavCad (HydroComp), Mars 2000 (Bureau Veritas) or Excel (Microsoft).

Nemo Designer includes specific tools to create NACA sections and appendages such as hydrofoils, keels (with or without bulb), or even blade propellers.
