Mastering Scan-to-Model Workflows in Rhino 8 by Sabit

McNeel Europe is excited to announce a technical webinar delivered by its reseller Sabit, focused on one of the most transformative updates in Rhino 8: the new Reverse Engineering workflow.

Many designers and engineers working in Rhino 5, 6, or 7 have long struggled with dirty mesh data and time-consuming manual tracing. Rhino 8 introduces a fundamental shift with tools like ShrinkWrap and QuadRemesh, making mesh-to-CAD processes faster and more intuitive than ever before.

This webinar will skip the basics of scanning and dive straight into the technical challenge of converting raw mesh data into production-ready geometry.

Key Topics:

  • ShrinkWrap: Creating watertight solids from damaged or incomplete meshes in a single click.
  • QuadRemesh + SubD: Converting chaotic scan data into clean, editable, and structured topology.
  • Mesh to NURBS: Professional techniques to prepare your models for manufacturing and CAD export.
  • Workflow Optimization: Leveraging the new UI and Auto C-Plane to reduce repetitive tasks.

Event Details:

  • Date: March 3, 2026
  • Time: 19:00 (CET)
  • Location: Online
  • Language: Polish 🇵🇱
  • Expert: Anna Smigielska-Raczka

This session is ideal for Polish-speaking Rhino users looking to evaluate the ROI of upgrading to version 8 and for professionals seeking to optimize their reverse engineering speed.

Video tutorial on a new Rhino 8 command: ShrinkWrap (in German)

What is ShrinkWrap?

Charles Panke from Filou created this video in German on ShrinkWrap, one of the new Rhino 8 features.

Using this command, you can create a watertight mesh from surfaces, solids, meshes, SubDs, or any combination, whether open or closed. And if you have point cloud data, ShrinkWrap can create meshes directly from that, too.

What is ShrinkWrap ideal for?
ShrinkWrap is the tool you choose to create:
  • Meshes for 3D printing
  • A solid union mesh from multiple objects
  • A solid mesh from 3D scan data fragments
  • Meshes without internal self-intersections
  • Offset meshes for shelling
  • Meshes from point clouds during reverse engineering
  • Valid closed meshes from broken or often hard-to-repair geometry
ShrinkWrap video tutorial
In this video you will learn:
  • How to create an editable geometry
  • The use of ShrinkWrap for the modeling of radii
  • How to create complex wall thicknesses in NURBS
Please note: German is the language used throughout the tutorial.
