Rhino supports the ‘Pavilion of Protest’ exhibition at the RIBA, London

The current average spend on 5 years of architecture school in the UK was £36,680, set to rise this year to £88,726 with the national increase in tuition fees.

The artistic partnership of ZaP Architecture invited architecture students to creatively VENT how they feel about this, given the current job prospects for architectural graduates.

ZAP Architecture secured the majestic Florence Hall at the RIBA, 66 Portland Place, London for a month long exhibition, 'Pavilion of Protest', beginning on the 25th of October 2011. ZAP want to use this as an opportunity to showcase the best of young architectural talent, the type of talent that doesn’t work for free and values it’s worth.

This collection of artwork will be judged by esteemed members of the creative industries. The judges have been named as Chris Lee, 2010 UK young architect of the year, Sir Nicholas Grimshaw, internationally renowned architect, Peter Randall-Page - renowned British sculptor and new RIBA president Angela Brady. Rhino has kindly sponsored one of the prizes for the winners of this endearing competition. "This relationship cements the bond between international software development mavericks ‘McNeel’ and the pioneerss of experimental academia and design – ‘the students’."

A 92-foot environmental light show

On October 8th the Leonardo museum opens at its new home in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah.

One of the exciting features of the museum is the 92-foot wall and light show spanning the building lobby. Embedded LED lighting in its wall fins are connected to motion and environmental sensors on data for wind, seismic, and windfall activity around the world. This light show reacts and reflects this data in real time.

Yong Ju Lee and Brian Brush, partners in the design collaboration SoftRigid, designed the permanent wall as part of a competition the museum hosted.

Leonardo is a contemporary art, science, and technology museum dedicated to inspiring creativity and innovation.
