SimplyRhino UK is kind enough to share its brand new Rhino 6 and Grasshopper videos.:

Enjoy!

Seanaptic - Parametric ship structures in Rhino

Seanaptic is a plugin for Rhino for naval architects to model parametric ship structures with extreme efficiency.

Thanks to the advanced automation algorithms and the presence of the 3D model next to the 2D drawings, the modeling process is highly accelerated.

Data such as weight and center of gravity are permanently available and updated live as the model is built.

The modeling time is similar to scaling methods, thus offering an ideal alternative when similar vessel data is not available. Results from a 3D model can now be obtained very early during the concept phase, before basic design.

The model can be exported to other specialized software for detailed engineering, class drawings, weight distribution and tracking, FEM analysis, etc.

Though specialized for marine design, Seanaptic is adaptable to any other industry where parametric modeling and object weight tracking is necessary.

RhinoGears, new plugin

RhinoGears allows generating custom gears.

RhinoGears is written in Python and is compatible with both the Windows and Mac versions of Rhino.

A few cool projects by Dimo Ivanov

Dimo Ivanov has been kind enough to share his projects with the Rhino community:

"I've used Rhino basically for all the projects on my website, from beginning to the end, including construction drawings.

Projects Ephemere Highrise & Civilization 0.000 were created during my Master Degree at the RWTH University in Aachen, where I used Rhino for first time (2012 / 2013).

For the physical models I used a CNC milling machine and a laser cutter at the university, exporting data directly from Rhino as well."

Meshroom VR, design validation in virtual reality

Virtual reality has been around for a while, but only available to large companies and VR specialists. Until now. Meshroom VR is on a mission. With Meshroom VR Studio, the company wants to democratize virtual reality validation for designer studios, product engineering, marketing, and other product-related teams.
Meshroom VR Studio offers a fast, affordable and very realistic digital prototyping solution. The team is focused on design quality and user experience to produce the most intuitive software. Users can get started fast and work autonomously.
Rhino can handle complex shapes where visualizing the result at scale 1 is especially important. Acknowledging the match between Rhino users' expectations and Meshroom VR philosophy, Meshroom VR made sure to support DAE and FBX Rhino-generated files in the best possible way. The DAE format is efficient. It allows a super fast export from Rhino and import to Meshroom VR. In just 20 seconds, complex structures over 5M triangles are loaded with their Rhino textures. They can be visualized instantly in beautiful, immersive virtual reality showrooms. Reviewing them with the design team or with the customer is then a real pleasure.

Crystallon: Create lattice structures in Rhino and Grasshopper

Crystallon is an open source project for creating lattice structures using Rhino and Grasshopper.

It was developed at FATHOM by Aaron Porterfield as an alternative to commercially available software for lattice design. The obvious advantage is the ability to generate lattice structures within Rhino’s design environment without exporting to third-party software, but the extended advantages include the modularity and ability to combine other powerful tools available for Grasshopper.

The decision to release it as open source was not only to share it with the community but to further the development through its users. Each tool is a cluster that can be opened and modified at will, in the spirit of open source. The community will continue to develop and contribute through the use of the Grasshopper forums and GitHub
