Two new Grasshopper plugins are focusing on creating lightweight internal structures.
Computational techniques, new materials, and fabrication processes are joining forces to create strong yet light lattice structures.
Intralattice is a set of open source Grasshopper components for generating solid lattice structures within a 3D design space.
Exoskeleton is a free plugin for creating meshes. It is currently two components: Exo Wireframe and Cytoskeleton.
- Exo Wireframe thickens lines and nodes into watertight meshes. It solves the nodes using a convex hull and stitches the hulls together with polygonal struts.
- Cytoskeleton thickens the edge network of any existing mesh into a thickened mesh. The topology of the base mesh enables the production of a clean quad mesh whose vertices are all an even valence.
