Rhino.Inside.Revit online workshop, 13-15 November 2024 (McNeel Europe)

Rhino.Inside.Revit online workshop
Tutors: Junghwo Park
13–15 November 2024
10 am–5 pm CET
Host: McNeel Europe

With Rhino 8 and the introduction of Rhino.Inside, Revit and Rhino/Grasshopper now integrate more seamlessly than ever. Rhino.Inside enables developers to push boundaries further by creating custom Grasshopper components (using C# or Python) that can directly access the Revit API within the same runtime environment. In this context, Junghwo Park, Head of VDC at Umdasch Group Ventures, will conduct Rhino.Inside.Revit online workshops at McNeel Europe.

What you will learn: Participants will get a basic understanding of how to use Rhino.Inside, will learn about BIM Management use-cases using Rhino.Inside, and BIM workflows using Rhino.Inside and useful Grasshopper plugins for parametric BIM Design.

Day 1 - Get started with Rhino.Inside.Revit (RIR)
  • Introduction to Rhino.Inside.Revit and its limitations
  • Essential Grasshopper Plugins: Enhancing RIR workflows
  • Unit Management: Comparing Revit and Rhino Units
  • Project Setup: Defining the Revit project framework and managing project documents (Project Information, Project Parameters, Active Documents, and Revit Links)
  • Selection and Filtering: Methods for efficient selection and filtering
  • Creating Revit Elements: Architectural, landscaping, and structural components
  • Hands-on Tutorial: Setting up your own Rhino.Inside.Revit project
Day 2 - Create and modify Revit elements and information
  • Form Creation: Designing forms in the Revit Family Editor environment
  • Material Creation: Defining Revit materials and associated data
  • Family Creation: Developing loadable families
  • Parameter Management: Retrieving and setting Revit parameters
  • Geometry Translation: Converting Rhino SubD geometry into Revit elements
  • Revit Topology: Managing rooms, areas, and spaces
  • Element Analysis: Analyzing Revit geometries, basic walls, and curtain walls
Day 3 - Documenting and exploring the potential of Rhino.Inside.Revit
  • View and Sheet Creation: Generating Revit views and sheets
  • Region Creation: Utilizing Rhino’s MakeHatch to create a Revit model and draft regions
  • Documentation Details: Annotations and detailing in Revit
  • Hands-on Tutorials:
  • Parametric BIM Design (Bridge & Building)
  • Structural Analytical Model
  • Clash Detection
  • Tips and Best Practices: Expert advice for working with Rhino.Inside.Revit
Course requirements: Basic knowledge of Rhino, Grasshopper, and Revit. The workshop is aimed at Revit and Rhino users, BIM creators, coordinators, and managers interested in parametric BIM workflows.

Online course fees for each course: EUR 395,- (+VAT); full-time students and university teachers get a 50% discount (proof of status required). Please note that we will confirm your seat after your payment has cleared.
