Rhino User Webinar: Adaptive Architecture

 Rhino User Webinar

March 4, 2026 - 4:00 PM (CET)

This webinar looks at ways to create adaptive buildings that adjust their design to their surroundings, such as trees on the site. This design approach is useful in the early stages when data is insufficient, when it is not possible to visit the proposed construction site, or when the location itself is not yet known.

This kind of task needs quick, flexible solutions that let you change the design in the future without extra effort, while preserving the main ideas the architect put into it. That's why we'll use Grasshopper for modeling and AI tools for renderings.

About the speaker:
Albert Sumin is an Architect and Computational Designer at Coop Himmelb(l)au (Vienna, Austria). He is also an Autodesk Certified Professional Revit Architecture and MEP, and an Autodesk Expert Elite Alumni. He contributes through lectures and workshops at PAAcademy, Design Morphine, and MARCH School.

Ant: Your AI copilot for Grasshopper - New plugin on food4Rhino

Ant is a new AI plugin that builds, modifies, and explains Grasshopper definitions for you, directly inside the interface.

Unlike generic chat-based AI tools, Ant can "see" what you are working on. You select a part of your definition (or the whole thing), open the command panel, and tell Ant what to do.

It translates the actual logic of your components and wires into a structured format that the Large Language Model (LLM) can understand. The AI analyzes this data and sends back precise instructions, which Ant executes directly in your Grasshopper canvas.

Here is exactly how Ant helps you:

  • Turn text into nodes: Type "Create a Voronoi pattern on this surface," and Ant will place and connect the components for you.
  • Write code instantly: Need a complex loop? Tell Ant to "Write a C# script to randomize these panels," and it will generate the code inside a script component.
  • Understand definitions: Select a messy cluster of components and ask, "How does this logic work?" to get a clear explanation.

Start designing and let Ant do the heavy lifting!

RhinoCFD v3: Professional CFD Analysis Now Fully Optimized for Rhino 8

RhinoCFD v3 brings professional-grade Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) directly into Rhino 8. This latest release officially establishes compatibility with Rhino 8, enabling users to leverage the platform's updated interface and improved performance for complex fluid and thermal simulations entirely within their CAD workspace.

Powered by the brand-new PHOENICS 2025 v1.0 engine, this update introduces a decoupled Monitor Plot Window. This feature allows designers to track convergence, residuals, and spot values in real time without slowing down Rhino. Simulation setup is now more intuitive than ever; the computational grid reacts instantaneously to geometry changes—such as moving, adding, or copying objects—making the design-to-analysis loop faster and less error-prone.

New physical modeling capabilities include the Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model for aerospace/external flows and advanced VOF boiling and condensation mechanisms. Post-processing is similarly enhanced, enabling users to apply custom mathematical expressions to results and automatically visualize critical data points with new minimum/maximum markers.

By keeping the entire workflow within Rhino, RhinoCFD v3 eliminates the need for cumbersome geometry exports, making high-fidelity engineering analysis seamless part of the modern design process.

Algorithmic Urban Design in Grasshopper: Data-Driven Site Analysis & Massing

Algorithmic Urban Design in Grasshopper:
Data-Driven Site Analysis & Massing
Online workshop
January 31-February 1, 2026

Designing urban projects on complex terrain can be challenging. Still, digital tools and parametric methods enable us to better understand a site and efficiently explore multiple design possibilities. This workshop focuses on reading the landscape first, using data and environmental conditions to guide design decisions rather than relying solely on intuition.

You will learn how to perform four key site analyses: sunlight exposure, terrain slope, vegetation density, and visibility, and transform raw data into clear visual diagrams. These analyses then serve as inputs to a generative design workflow that suggests optimal building positions and massing. The entire process is developed step by step in Grasshopper for Rhino, providing a practical strategy for early-stage urban design in any context.

What You’ll Learn
  • Creative algorithmic thinking and problem-solving
  • Analyzing complex terrain geometry (Sunlight + Slope + Vegetation + Visibility)
  • How to create your own custom analysis method from scratch
  • Data-driven design strategies
  • Generative approach to urban design
  • Tips & tricks for creating efficient and organized Grasshopper definitions

About the instructor:

Ognjen Graovac is an architect and computational designer from Belgrade focused on parametric design and digital workflows. He founded Algorithmic Architecture, has contributed to projects such as Madison Square Garden in Las Vegas, develops open-source Grasshopper plugins, and is an award-winning competition architect.

Emergent Futures V1.0 webinar by DesignMorphine

Emergent Futures V1.0 - Free Webinar
January 31st and February 1, 2026 - 3 PM to 7 PM UTC

Emergent Futures V1.0 explores how generative AI is transforming architectural design. The workshop focuses on using AI tools—Rhino, Blender, and ComfyUI—to create concept-driven 3D scenes. We'll discuss how today’s mix of AI, 3D modeling, and scripting empowers architects to design not just structures, but complex systems rich in relationships, narratives, and detail—often sacrificed to deadlines and project constraints. We’ll examine how mastering tools enables freedom in solving design problems. To test this, we’ll develop a concept with AI and transform it into a 3D environment, treating AI as a co-author, or even the author of the project’s core ideas. While this may sound dystopian, we’ll approach it playfully.

Participants will generate AI imagery of architecture, landscapes, characters, and objects within one cohesive concept, then model, texture, and light the scene for rendering. The workshop emphasizes creative exploration over technical drafting and concludes by materializing our ideas into a single unified 3D scene.

Modulation Evolution V1.0 Webinar by DesignMorphine

Modulation Evolution V1.0 explores how modular design can evolve into a generative, multidisciplinary methodology using Rhino and Grasshopper. Rather than treating design as a static result, the session frames it as a systemic and evolutionary process in which geometry, logic, and creativity interact within a living design ecosystem.

Participants will study how bottom-up processes can generate spatial systems, structural coherence, and aesthetic identity across scales, from product design to architecture. Patternsare introduced as the DNA of design, showing how they carry both the rational and poetic dimensions of creation. Through discussions on computational design, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and digital fabrication, we'll show how complexity can emerge through gradual adaptation rather than sudden invention.

Ultimately, this webinar invites participants to rethink design as an ongoing act of evolution—an exchange between form, structure, and thought in which geometry becomes a bridge linking disciplines, scales, and cultures.
