Learn Technical Drawings using Layouts in Rhino 3D:
Generating 2D Drawings from 3D Models
Tutor: Agata Kycia
The course is led by Agata Kycia, an architect and researcher with over 14 years of experience in Rhinoceros. Agata specializes in computational design, digital fabrication, and material science. She earned her doctorate from TU Berlin for research on self-shaping textiles and currently teaches CAD and generative design at the International University.
You will learn:
- Create a 3D model of a bottle and use Rhino’s Layouts to extract various 2D drawings, including plans, sections, elevations, and perspective views
- Divide complex 3D models into smaller parts to create detailed cutaway sections and exploded-view drawings, ideal for explaining intricate designs
- Gain valuable skills in generating clear 2D drawings for effective communication of your ideas, whether you’re working in architecture, design, engineering, or as a hobbyist
Requirements: No prior experience with Rhinoceros is necessary as this class is designed for beginners. For the course, you can use Rhino versions 6, 7, and 8.
