Participants will delve into the intricacies of enhancing collaborative design processes by integrating light and pattern analysis into the initial stages of design.
 

The workshop leverages the power of generative design to create lamp designs that reflect the performance of nature through bio-parametric design. Our primary objective is to equip participants with the essential knowledge and skills required to foster a collaborative work environment using Rhino3d and Grasshopper.

Methodology: The workshop will place a strong emphasis on effective teamwork, enabling participants to work simultaneously on 3D sketch models, facilitated by the seamless integration of 3D printing models using Grasshopper parameters. We will explore the associative exploration of complex geometries and morphological iterations, designing with the lights and shadows of the final projects.

SIGraDi 2024's main theme is the application of biodigital intelligent systems in the world of architecture design and art, from research, teaching, and professional practice perspectives.

Biodigital intelligent systems refer to a confluence of principles from biology, digital technology, and artificial intelligence (AI) to create intelligent systems inspired by living organisms through a systemic approach. This field encompasses a wide range of interdisciplinary areas, including bio-inspired robotics, artificial life, evolutionary algorithms, computational neuroscience, and more. They often draw inspiration from biological structures, processes, and mechanisms, highlighting the power of biological systems and natural intelligence to create advanced and innovative technologies to adapt, learn, and solve complex problems. 

By emulating the principles and mechanisms observed in living organisms, these systems can exhibit remarkable capabilities such as self-organization, self-repair, robustness, and adaptability. Car Render Challenge 2024 by 3DModels.org: 11th Annual Competition


3DModels.org presents the 11th Annual Car Render Challenge, which will run from September 24 to December 4, 2024. This competition invites 3D artists worldwide to demonstrate automotive modeling and visualization skills.

Participants are tasked with creating a 3D car model, placing it in an evocative environment, and producing a single, captivating render. Artists can draw inspiration from existing vehicles or design something entirely new.

Open to professionals, hobbyists, and students, the Car Render Challenge welcomes a range of skill levels. Entries will be evaluated on visual appeal, originality, technical execution, and narrative quality. A panel of experienced 3D artists and industry professionals will assess the submissions.

ShapeMap 1.0 for Rhino 8 has been released

 



ShapeMap is a Grasshopper plugin developed by the McNeel Asia China team. It integrates multiple basic functions in Rhino and has undergone secondary development. This plugin allows users to map any curve texture designed on a plane onto the surfaces of complex 3D models while minimizing or eliminating deformation of the texture curves on the 3D surfaces. With ShapeMap, designing textures on 3D model surfaces becomes much easier, and the operation process is intuitive and straightforward.

The event is free to attend, hosted by the Formnext fair in Frankfurt/Main, and organized by Prof. Ulrich Knaack, Prof. Oliver Tessmann, Dr. Nadja Gaudillière-Jami, Alexander Wolf, Christin Gandyra, Emanuel Nowak and Malcolm Unger from the Technical University of Darmstadt.
