Intelligent Generations V1.0 Webinar by DesignMorphine

Intelligent Generations V1.0 is about creatively and playfully harnessing the power of different computational design techniques, including AI technologies, to iterate through ideas quickly and make 3D models that directly come from AI-produced code. You will use Python code from ChatGPT in combination with your brain to create generative Grasshopper definitions inspired by the logic in AI-generated imagery. The class will use screenshots of our generatively designed 3D models to feed back into text-to-image AI systems to visualize different possibilities for viewing designs. Throughout this process, evoke the spirit and ethos of Bob Ross in the 21st century by sketching ideas with the contemporary mediums of computation, pixels, and 3D geometric information via artificial and human intelligence.

Starts July 30.

If you couldn't join us live or want to rewatch or share the webinar, you can do so here!

Francesc Salla, architect, a specialist in parametric design, and Product Manager of VisualARQ and Lands Design at Asuni, showed us how VisualARQ integrates intuitively into the design process with Rhino and Grasshopper, with the shortest learning curve and thus generates any type of freeform architecture.

Check out Salla's free online course, VisualARQ, Flexible BIM Tools for Rhino.

Le Corbusier's masterpiece, The Villa Savoye, is the model selected for this course. It is a step-by-step guide explaining the architecture modeling workflow with VisualARQ and Rhino. Students will learn about the different VisualARQ commands and features.

You can follow this course with just a little Rhino experience. However, most videos focus only on VisualARQ features, and we recommend you take this free Rhino Introductory course.

A New Digital Wind Tunnel App in Rhino

A New Digital Wind Tunnel App in Rhino

April 19, 2023

3:00 pm CET / 9:00 am ET

SimScale has launched a new microclimate modeling app, a Rhino plugin visualizing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations directly from within Rhino! The app used the powerful CAD tools in Rhino and integrates SimScale's fast and accurate wind and outdoor comfort studies tools.

Attend an upcoming webinar and learn how architects and engineers use this new app for microclimate design insights. See how to set up and run a complete simulation of a city model from Rhino step by step, including how to:

  • Start with a CAD model in Rhino
  • Use the app to set up the climate data and location
  • Run the simulations without leaving Rhino
  • Postprocess and visualize the simulation results directly in Rhino

This app was developed jointly by Thornton Tomesetti and SimScale.  Presenters are Jeroen Janssen and Richard Szoeke-Schuller. Jeroen is an Associate Director leading the CORE studio team for Thornton Tomasetti in London. Jeroen mainly focuses on the design of microclimates for urban spaces. Richard Szoeke-Schuller is a Product Manager at SimScale and has an extensive background in applied mathematics and mechanical engineering.

Rhino User Webinar: New solutions for eyeglass design, by Riccardo Pietro Visentin (In Italian)

Rhino User Webinar (In Italian)
April 26, 2023, at 4:00 PM CEST

This webinar will explain how Rhino enables improvements to the traditional workflow in eyewear design, using SubD and parametric modeling with Grasshopper. We will address aspects aimed at both digital fabrication and product virtualization. Special focus will be given to using 2D and 3D tools in Rhino for eyewear customization, including models with custom designs in terms of shape, size, materials, colors, details, logos, and engravings, up to unique solutions for the person who will wear it. This is the new concept of sartorial eyewear, that is, eyewear designed as a tailor-made garment to express the taste and style of people who seek exclusive fashion accessories. Taking advantage of Rhino's potential and new functions, it will be shown how to handle complex design situations, including the creation of fittings for critical parts, the intersection of surfaces between bridge, nose pads, and the ergonomic shapes of temple ends.

Riccardo Pietro Visentin is the
Founder & Owner of AUREASERVICE Design Studio (Est. 1989), which has been an Authorized Rhino Training Center since 2005. He is a Creative Digital Designer: consultant, 3D designer, and trainer for digital innovation in multiple areas of design. He has developed specific expertise in the design of fashion accessories and furniture components, working alongside and training designers from companies and professional studios. In the area of eyewear design, he has created training paths to introduce and improve digital design and fabrication in companies in the supply chain.

Solid Skins V1.0 Webinar by DesignMorphine (January 22, 2023)

January 22, 2023

Solid Skins V1.0 will showcase the full process of making an engine-ready game character using Rhinoceros, Blender, and Unreal Engine 5 software chain. What differentiates this webinar from a typical character design webinar is its focus on hard-surface modeling, as opposed to mesh sculpting. Thus the knowledge gained will be easy to adapt to your existing product design or architectural design workflow.

You will be presented with a series of example files of a character at different stages of development, followed by a concise explanation from the tutor. After each teaching stage is completed, you will work on your own version of a character body part and practice applying the workflow to your design. These designs will then be textured and animated in Blender.

Finally, the design will be set up for and inserted into the Unreal Engine environment. The end goal is to have an animated hard-surface object playing out in real time in Unreal Engine 5.
