As in the previous five editions, in about three hours, he will share his ideational and executive path that led him from the white sheet to the creation of images with a high visual impact to support the design he develops.

Whether you are a professional or a student in product design, transportation design, and concept design, Luigi will illustrate his workflow based, in the executive phase, on the massive and indispensable modeling tool Rhinoceros and rendering in KeyShot.

Regardless of the subject, an accurate 3D model is an indispensable element for the subsequent creation of credible and realistic images.

An example of the use of the Rhinoceros software will be the presentation of the new fantasy image belonging to the GruppoC, the AEG27 DIVA22 category, developed thanks to the experience of Eng. Giorgio Stirano, legendary trainer of LMP and F1 racing cars.

8th Annual Car Render Challenge by Hum3D

Hum3D would like to invite all Rhinoceros 3D artists to join the 8th Annual Car Render Challenge. It’s the largest awards event for the car 3D modeling and visualization industry. Every year Rhino entries are in the final stage of voting, so let’s make this year's winner one of our users.

What participants need to do: create a car 3D model, put it into a 3D environment and make a beautiful rendering. You can choose any automobile you like, whether it is a racing or an imaginary vehicle.

Environment in the work should be made in 3D as well as a final image. Minimal use of third-party assets such as vegetation, street elements is allowed. Vehicle models should be made by you.

The first-place winner will get prizes worth a total of $15,000: license and content from 30 sponsors, leaders of the 3D world industry. Also, everyone has an opportunity to receive additional prizes. 

A professional jury team will vote to choose the winners.

Event dates: September 15-December 8.

PhD Position at BMW Group: Generative Design for Faceted Geometries

The BMW Group, in collaboration with the TU Wien, is offering an interesting, multidisciplinary PhD position in the field of generative design in form-finding with a focus on facetted geometries and the mathematics enabling them.

The research of the parametric dependencies across the geometry elements is the key to successfully create a complex surface 3D structure including all the industrialization requirements. With a new understanding of these mathematical relations, we will expand our access to 3D geometries and transform the designer‘s vision into technically valuable and aesthetically inspiring surface language.

Founded in 2009 by Carsten Astheimer with Russell Gillott, the Astheimer team has grown into a talented multidisciplinary team of designers and design engineers enabling the design, development, and building of road-going vehicles, award-winning boats, vertical take-off and landing aircraft, and more.

Carsten spent a large part of his career in Italy, the birthplace of automotive design, building and running one of the studios for Pininfarina. He then became design director for Brunswick, a multinational marine company where he met Russell, now the design director at Astheimer.

April 16, 2020 - "Future Technology for Car Design" is an event organized by T-System for Volkswagen which gathers the latest innovations in the automotive design industry.

A selection of Volkswagen's Tier-1 Partners including Mindesk (a Vection Technology company), McNeel & Associates, T-System, Epic Games, Varjo, and Logitech, presented their latest technological updates. 

CEO Gabriele Sorrento and Computational Designer Arturo Tedeschi introduced Iris, an original concept for an electric city car. Arturo Tedeschi further shared details about how Mindesk Live Link with VR and Unreal opens an unprecedented approach to parametric design.

More on Phil Frank's SuperCar from Factory 5: Simerics Rhino Flow RT provided CFD realtime simulation of the carbon fiber SuperCar designed using Rhino.

Even with little CFD experience, the SuperCar team was able to match the simulations with their wind tunnel tests.

Announcing Car Body Design's very first live webinar on Dec 13. It will present an overview of Grasshopper for Rhino and how designers can use its parametric/procedural capabilities to enhance their creative workflow. 

Marco Traverso is an engineer and 3D designer with over 15 years of experience with Rhinoceros, as well as founder of Car Body Design. In the past 5 years he has worked on the development of workflows and tools for integrating the parametric capabilities of Grasshopper into the 3D concept design pipeline. 

In this webinar, Marco will introduce the user interface and the basic principles. He will present a practical demonstration creating a 3D automotive grille, and will show several examples of parametric design tools and their applications.
