Free "Rhino & Grasshopper for Architects" online workshop (by HowToRhino) - June 6-16, 2022

If you’re an architect or a designer and you have a strong interest in learning Rhino, Grasshopper, and Rhino.Inside Revit specifically for architecture, HowToRhino will host a workshop called Rhino & Grasshopper for Architects from June 6 to 16, 2022.

The focus of this workshop will focus on how to use Rhino efficiently when modeling basic and more organic and fluid geometries, how to start using Grasshopper from scratch with a beginner-friendly learning approach, and how to understand the logic behind parametric modeling.

Another big topic will be the newest tech from McNeel called Rhino.Inside Revit, and how to make a seamless connection between parametric designs in Grasshopper with BIM capabilities in Revit. You’ll learn how to fuse the project's design phase from Rhino and Grasshopper with the construction phase in Revit.

The workshop is held by Dusan and Lazar, architects from Serbia and founders of the HowToRhino platform that helps architects learn how to use Rhino and Grasshopper for Architecture.

There will be four workshop videos, four live streams, and two Q&A sessions.

The workshop will be online. It is free, but there are limited seats available, so make sure you register soon.

"Mars Architecture" workshop by PAACADEMY - March 26-June 11, 2022

The "Mars Architecture" studio workshop by PAACADEMY (March 26-June 11, 2022) is devoted to exploring the computational design capabilities applied to space architecture.

The studio workshop led by Valentina Sumini and her team aims to design a resilient and sustainable infrastructure for human missions on Mars. This design challenge requires a new holistic approach, in which computational design plays a key role. Indeed, Space Architecture relies on some fundamental pillars that are intrinsically interconnected: space sciences, engineering, industrial design, ergonomics, medicine, psychology, and art.

Students will be challenged to work in teams within a cross-disciplinary environment at different scales, from urban to architecture and interior design, relying on the knowledge and technologies developed for space applications. A challenge for both space and terrestrial architectures is to consider the relationships between human activities and the resources thar support them.

The Mars Architecture Workshop will bring a new computational design approach to this design challenge in order to sustain human space exploration on Mars.

Open Sky/Oasiz (by ARCHIOLOGICS)

Adolfo Nadal from ARCHIOLOGICS has been kind enough to share his recent project Open Sky/Oasiz, modeled with the help of Rhino and Grasshopper:

At ARCHIOLOGICS, we conceive each project as a process thought and designed to meet the expectations, tastes and needs of each profile. We combine design and construction with the highest levels of precision through a workflow based on virtual models, true digital twins for construction. We are able to combine the most advanced industrialization and design systems with the customization of each design and work thanks to our Rhino-based, tailor-made solutions. Whether you are looking for a pure geometric or textured design, specific sizes or proposals, or a bright and striking aesthetic, our team of professionals will develop the best version for your needs.

From design to construction

Our façade solutions highlight the value of material and geometry through fully customized computational processes. We optimize investment and minimize costs thanks to early analysis and rationalization of the geometry, improving its constructive and aesthetic potential. All this can be achieved by harvesting the native power of Rhinoceros' NURBS geometry core and the extended functionality we add by means of Grasshopper and the software's API. In this particular case, we were able to develop more than 22000sqm of unique panels seamlessly integrating design and construction procedures, such as surface rationalization, structure optimization, and drawing automation, including a wide variety of planar, curved, and double curved geometries.

At Oasiz, we provide value to this raw material to the extent that it becomes a truly unmatched design. Unique products are combined with geometric cladding and vitreous finishes, adopting the essence of industrial and minimalist environments for a project that seeks to stand out by itself.

Record setting 3D printed installation—bECOme by Arturo Tedeschi

On December 2, 2021, Adidas opened the doors of its most sustainable flagship store to date under the motto Renew Berlin. The three-story, 1400m² store stands for regionality, sustainability, and the brand’s deep roots in sports.

The store features the project bECOme, a 3D printed installation created by designer Arturo Tedeschi (@arturotedeschi) using more than 300 kg of recycled plastic. The suspended 17-meters long sculpture symbolizes the urgent commitment to turn waste into resources, passing through different transformation processes. It also expresses an attitude that considers plastic-waste-ending a mission through communication, education, and daily actions. The sculpture itself is a sustainability statement as it was made using recycled plastic turned into PLA filaments implemented in the printing process.

Rhino and Grasshopper have been used to create the original 3D model used for further development and 3D printing.
