Lark - Spectral Lighting - v1.0 is announced

ZGF, in collaboration with Dr. Mehlika Inanici and the University of Washington, has reached a new milestone with its toolset Lark for spectral lighting.

Lark v1.0 is a peer-reviewed, validated plugin for Grasshopper that helps architects, lighting designers, and researchers compute circadian light metrics within a daylighting workflow.

Lark allows users to define the color of skies, glazing, and building materials based on spectral data in 3 or 9 channels and computes the equivalent melanopic illuminance and luminance.

The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) is pleased to launch a new Global Summer School (GSS) program, the 15th edition of the international summer educational program focussing on how to shape the future of our cities. The GSS program will take place online and in IAAC from July 4 through July 28.

The GSS22 offers a new hybrid format this year, presenting new and flexible workshop model interconnecting its extraordinary network of faculty, industry collaborators, and laboratories in the most extensive educational summer course of 2022. Since the first editions, IAAC has been digitally connected, sharing and learning in an incredible global environment of educators and innovators.

IAAC launches a novel, flexible model to enrich digital routes within an agile format. The GSS22 will offer three online workshops and one presential workshop, investigating the impact of innovative tools in the definition of a new advanced architecture at different scales. The GSS program represents a unique opportunity for architects, designers, and engineers—students and professionals—to conduct multi-level investigations on computational design, digital fabrication & robotics, urban analytics, and environmental design.

Whether you are a professional or a student in product design, transportation design, and concept design, Luigi will illustrate his workflow based, in the executive phase, on the massive and indispensable modeling tool Rhinoceros and rendering in KeyShot.

Regardless of the subject, an accurate 3D model is an indispensable element for the subsequent creation of credible and realistic images.

An example of the use of the Rhinoceros software will be the presentation of the new fantasy image belonging to the GruppoC, the AEG27 DIVA22 category, developed thanks to the experience of Eng. Giorgio Stirano, legendary trainer of LMP and F1 racing cars.

Rhino 7 and KeyShot 11 – New KeyShot Feature: 3D Paint

 

In this Simply Rhino KeyShot video tutorial, Phil Cook looks at 3D Paint, a new feature in KeyShot 11.

3D Paint allows for painting directly onto a 3D object. This is a great way to add dirt, aging, corrosion, and other arbitrary textures onto local areas of geometry.

Using the example of a metal casting modeled in Rhino 7, the video shows step-by-step methods for adding textures in KeyShot 11 using 3D Paint. Phil also shows how to set up the initial model in Rhino 7 to ease the process.

IntraLattice, Chimpanzee, Treesloth and Droid added to ShapeDiver!
