Hull Design and Fairing Training for Professionals in the Netherlands

Hull Design and Fairing Training for Professionals Level 1 & 2
RhinoCentre NL, Leeuwarden, the Netherlands
Oct 13-16, 2014

Ships – Yachts – Workboats – Multihulls
Goal: Design high quality hulls with Rhino fast and flexible

Rhino enables accurate, flexible and fair hull design with the
“Rapid Hull Modeling Methodology”. This method is developed by RhinoCentre in co-operation with other professionals in the marine industry. After years of offering training and services to leading companies in the marine industry worldwide, RhinoCentre finally developed the unique training modules: Prepare2d input and Hull Design and Fairing Level-1 and Level-2.

These three modules are now combined in a three day training that unveils the mystery of Class-A fairing to any designer, naval architect and shipyard. One free extra day enables you to work on your own project under our assistance.
You decide which program makes you successful and productive:
  1. Hull design and fairing Training Level 1 & 2 and Work on your project
  2. Feedback support on your work
  3. Project support for your business
Trainer: Gerard Petersen is naval architect, founder of RhinoCentre and uses Rhino since 2001 in his projects in the most integrated way. Petersen developed hull design and fairing skills to be able to develop innovative concepts with unique hull shapes like the integrated trimaran Kenau. The trimaran project proved that Rhino is a professional tool to turn an idea into reality.

INFORMED MATTER - intermediate Grasshopper workshop in Paris

INFORMED MATTER - intermediate Grasshopper workshop
Paris, France
Oct 17-19, 2014

The space in which we live can be monitored in many aspects and it appears as a flux, a gradient of data in continuous evolution. Our understanding of the surrounding environment improves every day due to our ability to scan and sample the environment around us at increasing resolution, using better technologies and sensors. Thus the space is revealed as a ever changing data field. Our capability to act and design the space itself can be enhanced by the use of tools able to inform better the design processes with more accurate, specific and variable, in space and time, data streams.

INFORMED MATTER is an intermediate Grasshopper workshop about “data embodiment strategies” and advanced mesh modeling techniques.

Grasshopper is actually a powerful information processor that provides the basis to develop possible strategies to inFORM digital matter morphologies by specific set of data conditions.

The workshop focuses on integrating information processing into digital systems to enable the formation of structures, from the very simple up to more complex ones. The aim is to give an understanding of information and data articulation as a spatial and architectural operation. Results may range from pure data strategies design to data-driven geometries depending on the skill levels and aspirations of each participant. The brief is also open to the suggestions and opportunities that may rise during the workflow.

Rhino Summer School for Teachers in London

Rhino Summer School
London, UK
September 2014

SimplyRhino UK, in collaboration with McNeel Europe and chaos group, has organized a free of charge training & networking event for design teachers and lecturers, six classes over eight days.  Separate courses covering three areas: modelling, rendering and generative design

All courses are delivered by leading individuals from the software developer plus certified trainers from Simply Rhino. All courses are taking place at Imperial College London, Skempton Building in the newly refurbished South Kensington campus.

All classes have a focus on “training the trainer”. All content (except for the Rhino 5 Level Class, which is identical to our standard class) is tailored to help inform any teacher or lecturer in the key aspects of that subject -- quite different than our commercial classes where the focus is very much on professional use. The aim is to enable teachers to teach rather than become professional users. We think this is what you need.

Class titles:

  • Rhino 5 Level 1
  • Rhino 5 in Architecture & Engineering
  • V-Ray Level 1
  • V-Ray Advanced
  • V-Ray Advanced for Architecture
  • Grasshopper Introduction
