Summer Schools: Shells - Real scale fabrication

FUTURE IS ARCHITECTURE

Dates: July 2-6
Language: English
Tuition fee: 980€ (includes lodging and allowance) // 15% discount for ELISAVA's Alumni and Degree students
Professors: Stephanie Chaltiel (IaaC UPC Innochain Marie Curie), PhD Pere Llorach (ELISAVA), Drone pilot from DroneTools
Where: Escola de Ceràmica de La Bisbal, La Bisbal d'Empordà (Girona)

During the first edition of the Elisava Summer camp, participants will build full-scale monolithic earthen shells using unique custom made drones spraying on light easily mounted temporary formwork.

Participants will use Grasshopper to simulate perforations and 3D outer texturing of the membrane elements. These will be placed on the shell following some prefabricated steps.

Participants will get to discover a new technology with Holo Lens through the Grasshopper program Fologram, placing though mixed reality a high diversity of components on the shell.

The Ceramic School of the Bisbal dÉmporda will host the tutors and participants.

FUTURE EARTHEN DWELLERS

Dates: August 5-11
Language: English
Tuition fee: Professional 1264€ - Students 944€ (Includes accommodation and food)
Professors: Stephanie Chaltiel (IaaC UPC Innochain Marie Curie), Shameel Muhammed (Studio 7)
Where: Domaine de Boisbuchet, Lessac (France)

This August at Domaine du Boisbuchet participants will build a permanent structure at the Boisbuchet Architectural Park where Shigeru Ban built his first European project.

Grasshopper for Rhino will be used to generate diverse patterns of perforations and texturing of the shell varying angle, density, and types of texturing modules. We will use HoloLens and Fologram for Rhino to place the different modules according to their type, length, and angles.

The way the texturing modules proliferate on the earthen shells will help the structure withstand rain and snowy winters.
